Types of irrigation

Irrigation is easy and versatile! Choose from drip irrigation for garden beds, and pop-up sprinklers for square and irregular shaped lawn areas. Check the watering requirements for your plants to determine which form of drip product is best suited. Easy installation and product pairing makes irrigation a breeze, keeping your garden and lawn green all year round.
Drippers & Tricklers

Apply water directly to the desired plants and their root system. Water is distributed slowly and accurately, reducing water loss from wind or evaporation and minimising moisture wasted on weeds, unplanted areas or run off.

Pop-ups

Pop-ups offer great usability while being concealed when not in use. Specifically designed as part of a system to offer maximum water efficiency.

Drip Tube
  • For high density areas, intricate beds and vegetable gardens
  • More permanent drip watering setup
  • Slowly and consistently drips water to save water and reach plant roots
  • Made from polyethylene
Jets & Sprays

Sprays, mini sprinklers and mini spinners offer different spray patterns and diameters of throw. That is they apply water over different areas. It is important to select a spray type that suits your garden needs.

Dip your poly pipe into warm to make it softer and easier to connect fittings

Fittings explained

Confused about the different types of fittings? Let us explain for you to make your next DIY project easier.
Barbed ends
Barbed fittings connect your system. Insert the barbed fitting into the poly pipe or drip tube and secure with a locking clamp.
Threaded ends
For a watertight seal use threaded end fittings. These are common for connecting your water emission devices such as solenoid valve and pop up.
Male fittings
Male fittings feature the thread on the outside of the fittings. Male fittings are paired with female fittings with the same BSP for a watertight connection.
Female fittings
Female fittings feature the thread on the inside of the fittings. Female fittings are paired with male fittings with the same BSP for a watertight connection.
Diameter
The size of your poly pipe, drip tube or pop-up will dictate the fittings you’ll need. Refer to the size in millimetres, or BSP for threaded fittings.
Secure your fittings
Prevent poly tubing and Drip Eze from slipping off barbed fittings by locking them securely in place.
Add some height
Rigid Risers screw directly into poly pipe to enable jets and spray to be located above ground.
Redirect water
Use elbows, tees or crosses to direct the water flow around a corner, or joiners to connect additional sections of poly pipe.

Calculate your flow rate

Calculate your flow rate

Your flow rate will determine how many emission devices you can run at once in your system. When you start mapping your design, check your devices for their lph (litres per hour).

Frequently asked questions

We suggest watering early in the morning during the summer months.
Night time watering and warm air can be a breeding ground for fungicides and pests.

Established plants generally require more water than smaller or younger plants and they require it less frequently. Often, a good long soak is recommended. Consider using higher flow rate products such as 4 or 8 litres per hour drippers and ensure coverage is around the root areas of the trunk.

This depends on the flow rate you are able to achieve from your water source.

Calculate your flow rate using the bucket test, then reference the flow consumption of the pop-up sprinkler. E.g. If you have a 45Lpm flow rate, you can run 7.5 half circle professional sprinklers as they use 6Lpm (45 / 6 = 7.5).
